The Hammond Company of Canada Ltd (Toronto)

Previous | Canadian Makers Index | Next

The parent Hammond clock company was based in Chicago in the early 1930s.  The Hammond Company of Canada Ltd was in business in Toronto for just a few years, from about 1931 to 1936 (dased on old city business directories listings).

The electric clocks made in Canada have metal Canadian labels - check out the pictures in our Galleries section.   Note that all of the electric motors developed and used by Hammond were "manual start",  usually with a knob on the back that had to be spun to get the motor going.

It seems that Hammond mantel and wall clocks did not have the model names on the cases.  The known model names come from Hammond magazine advertisements at the time.
